It consists of two pushbuttons, typically labeled "ON" and "OFF," that allow the user to activate or deactivate the circuit or device.
The operation of a two-way pushbutton station is based on a concept called a two-way switch, which is commonly used in electrical wiring. The switch has three terminals: a common terminal and two traveler terminals. The common terminal is connected to the power source or load, while the traveler terminals are connected to the pushbuttons.
When one pushbutton is pressed, it changes the position of the switch, connecting one traveler terminal to the common terminal and disconnecting the other traveler terminal. This action turns on the circuit or device. When the other pushbutton is pressed, it reverses the position of the switch, connecting the other traveler terminal to the common terminal and disconnecting the previous connection. This action turns off the circuit or device.
By using two-way pushbutton stations at different locations, you can control the same circuit or device from either location. For example, if you have a two-way pushbutton station for controlling a light fixture from two different rooms, pressing the "ON" pushbutton in one room will turn on the light, and pressing the "OFF" pushbutton in the other room will turn off the light.
